During a parade through downtown, I drove the Mazzios float — a truck pulling a flatbed full of kids throwing goodies into the crowd. I was surprised when people shouted, “thank you Mazzios for coming to Stigler.” Franchises can be a welcome sight in a small town.

Even more so when I found out the property was being taken over by Sonic and another restaurant. The locals, who still reside there are so pumped as my old favorite was falling apart and losing business. They are ready for change and excitement in their dwindling town.
